Profiles in Passion – Shereen and Twitter.

Meet Shereen – or rather @shereennicole, one of the most gifted make up artists I know.  But also, she’s the most proactive tweeters I know.

She has a little passion with a little microblogging website called Twitter.

As of this writing, I (@Pino44) joined the Twitterverse on March 6, 2009 with 3,718 tweets. This is pale in comparison to Shereen’s Twitography:  Since joining on March 22, 2009, she boasts a whooping 72,000 tweets.

She trumps me by 68,282 tweets.  Astronomically prolific is an understatement.

How-To Tuesdays: How to Improve Your Vocabulary

Who got the vocab?

Who got the vocab?

To me, there’s a decorated beauty in writing. From elementary to eloquent, an arrangement of words can evoke feelings that can’t be explained.  Writing is hard enough, but to imbue a style you can call your own calls for the accessories of adjectives, nomenclatures in nouns, and vivacity in verbs.

It’s a long road from the nadir.  Early on, I found myself in a challenging high school responsible for paper after paper.  I remember going home, staring at the assignment to no end, not knowing how …

What I Learned On Sunday – Loneliness

Driving home from lunch yesterday, Jeff and I listened to a new song by Drake entitled “I Get Lonely Too.” As I vociferously listened to every word, I found a disconnect between me and the subject of lyrics.

I GET LONELY.

I GET LONELY.

“Just like you, I get lonely too.” – Aubrey Graham

I never understood loneliness, and rightly so; I am a product of my very own environment – a tableau that included parents that worked harder than hard-working, and a household filled with no siblings. Therefore, loneliness wasn’t nor isn’t …

Is Friendship Possible After Rejection?

Rejection Turned Friendship.

Rejection Turned Friendship.

One of my loyal readers has asked me to figure out an interpersonal relationship problem that I find many people are dealing with.  Here’s what she had to write:

“Last November, after about a year of friendship, a friend of mine told me he liked me. I flipped out.  And according to him, I ‘Stomped on his heart and tried to feed it back to him.’ (His words, not mine.) Flipping was my fault – I was angry at his choice of telling me, as well as

Prying Past Procrastination

There’s an epidemic out there – a fear, spreading far wider and far worse than anything terminally known. We’re not talking AIDS or cancer, but worse: procrastination.  It’s an omnipresent phenomenon that supports counter-production.  It defers actions and tasks, and even dreams alike to a later time.  Better yet, – it translates to NOTHING AND NEVER. Simply put, PROCRASTINATION IS DECIDING NOT TO DECIDE.

Can Men And Women be “Just Friends?”

While looking at an active Facebook user’s update, she begged the question, “Is there such a thing as platonic friendship with members of the opposite sex? Can men and women be ‘just friends?’”

Me & my favorite platonic friend, Nelly Furtado.

Socially, it’s been a hot topic for hundreds of years.  Since this issue is a ubiquitous one, it offshoots a multitude of angled answers.

Naturally, many comments surfaced, including these:
