Profiles in Passion: Dancing with Olutayo

Meet Olutayo, a talented young man who believes he is of little accomplishment.  I BEG TO DIFFER.  As I interview him on a mildly warm October day at a Border’s bookstore, I learn about someone who lives life to the fullest. He believes that life and his experiences speak to him, citing that his greatest inspiration is life itself, and whether it be his experiences or someone else’s, everything has equally touched him.

DON'T STOP FOR NOTHING.

DON'T STOP FOR NOTHING.

On the same night as Michael Vick’s historic Monday, I was at my friend’s house (will call him Robby), empathizing with his romantic life.  Here’s his current scenario:

For two long months, he has gotten closer to a girl he’s quite fond of (will call her ‘another’).  However, he admitted that something is missing, that ‘je nais se quoi’ if you will. That ‘something’ wrest in the hands …

WHY I LOVE MUSIC.

I LOVE MUSIC.

I LOVE MUSIC.

With all its brilliance in elements – MUSIC colors rhythms, melodies, and harmonies through sound. It moves us. Simply put, music is an art of sound that expresses ideas and emotions that are inside us.

Last night, I had the euphonious honor to attend The Kings of Leon’s first ever concert at Madison Square Garden.  It were with the biggest fans I know, two great friends in Joy & Stephanie.  …

How to Communicate Correctly, Digitally – The Etiquette in Electronics

Unlimited Plan.

Unlimited Plan.

Over the past two decades, there has been  a rapid succession in technological change.  The price of such an evolution is heavy.  Face time is scare – no I’m not talking about iPhone 4 video conferencing – rather, the amount of time we talk to people face-to-face.  I’m guilty of it myself just take a look at my stats.  The numbers speak for itself this month alone:

131 Minutes on the phone < 3,410 texts

As text messages stand at the forefront of this digital communication, I’ve learned …

2008 - Living Poor, Thinking Rich.

2008 – Living Poor, Thinking Rich.

After a week of reflection, I’ve had many accomplishments I can be proud of, none being bigger than the New York City Marathon two Sundays ago.  But reflecting on the ups and downs that consummate my life, especially the last 3 years, I drew a conclusion that the PROUDEST MOMENTS I’ve ever had was living POOR, yet RESOURCEFULLY in 2008 – and SURVIVING IT.

And on Sunday, I commiserated with another young man who could empathize with my situation 2 years ago, exponentially.  His …

Friends from afar.

Friends from afar.

This is a story of friendship & camaraderie, reliability & un-reliability, need & want.

Inspired by true events, a lack of events, and Facebook. Perhaps my motivation in writing this personal story is to get a response; but even more so, what I really expect is NOTHING.

PROFILES IN PASSION – WEIGHT LIFTING & TRAINING WITH RICKY

LOOK AT ME NOW.

LOOK AT ME NOW.

17 years ago today, I was already in my second month of 7th grade at Kellenberg Memorial.   I had the distinction – at 4 feet 7 inches – of being tied for the shortest person in school.

The other twerp I shared this dubious distinction went by the name of Ricardo Jean.  17 years ago was his 12th birthday – so happy 17th anniversary of your 12th birthday Rick!

Today’s focus is on Ricky, 29.  Albeit he hasn’t grown too much vertically, …
