How-To Tuesday’s: Managing Melancholy

Ralph at the height of Melancholy - Summer 2008.

Ralph at the height of Melancholy – Summer 2008.

Albeit melancholy is a euphonious sounding word, being in and feeling it describes a state in which one is in a gloomy state of mind.  It has it’s differences with depression, to me at least, as melancholy is something that slowly creeps up and lingers in that brain of ours.

I find that lingering far worse than depression.  Perhaps depression comes from something that distinctly affects you, such as a death in the family, a bout of uncontrollable acne, or a …

What I Learned on Sunday: The Importance of Traveling

My 1st trip to California.

My 1st trip to California.

Greetings from sunny Orlando, Florida!  It’s been awhile since I’ve been round these parts, or any parts for that matter.  Perhaps it’s my fault the past 11 months, I haven’t exactly been proactive in seeing places, and the business traveling of 2009 is long gone.

As 2010 draws closes to a finale, I reflect back on the virtual commuting stand-stills of this year, and the prolifics of the year before.  I’ve seen many faces, in many different places that have shaped me to be the …

Profiles in Passion: Kevin and Music

Once it hits you, you feel no pain.

Once it hits you, you feel no pain.

Meet Kevin, 30 – singer/songwriter extraordinaire. I’ve had the limited pleasure of working with Kevin at a top-notch worldwide brand.  As quickly I got to know him in July this year, I left as quickly and abruptly in October.  12:30pm, Monday’s through Friday’s were ours – where we spent one hour speaking on married life, books, and of course our other mutual passion:

THE PASSION? MUSIC

“Nothing is capable of being well set to music that is not nonsense.” – Joseph Addison…

Applying Appreciation

Thanks for being my Next Door Neighbor.

Thanks for being my Next Door Neighbor.

Everyday, I turn on my computer, if it’s not on already, and open up a “New Document” in Microsoft Word.  Aside from the toolbars up top, I see a blank white screen, with a blinking cursor; however, It doesn’t take me too long to put my emotion to it, as writing is a part of me for the latter part of almost ten years.

Long are the formative days of writing papers, when I’d think writing an academic 3 page paper, in Times …

Ralph On Relationships: A Twenty-Something Dilemma

Eternal Love.

Eternal Love.

Out of the decades that make up an evolving legacy, it’s often said, universally, that the best time to live is in the coveted ages of your 20′s.  This is when mistakes, experiments, and foolish fun are often justified by the fusion of youth and adulthood – when they become one and the same.

“I’m not young enough to know everything.” – Oscar Wilde

Time is of the essence, as your 20′s will see many milestones starting at the brutal age of 20 – 365 days until you’re …

How-To Tuesdays: How to Spot a Flake

Flakes in the back.

Flakes in the back.

As I ran 7 miles this morning, I looked down on the two inches of snow abound the floor all over.  Of course, the basic makeup of snow is water slightly below freezing, crystalized flakes that produces one of natures little beauties.

Mile after mile, I thought of what I was going to write.  Then, it dawned on me.  As I looked at all the dustings on the main roads of my run, I thought not of the little flakes I saw swirling in the win …

What I Learned on Sunday: Destroy & Rebuild

Anyone know where that hat is?

Anyone know where that hat is?

Aside from spending a lazy off-day watching Basketball, Football, and the rainfall, I spent most of my day…formatting my computer.

It was a major gaff – relics of pictures, digital movies, and files that I’ve amassed through the years are gone, now and forever.  The pit in my stomach hit me as if I lost a family member – but I’ve been down this road before – I’ve lost keys, my old computer, and even my iPhone 3g.
