RALPH ON RELATIONSHIPS: YOUR ‘TYPE’

I TYPE MY LOVE TO YOU.

I TYPE MY LOVE TO YOU.

There I was, age 8, staring shamelessly at the wall in my room. I paused the video game I was playing of the day, only to realize I liked girls.  But what kind of girls? The women I’ve seen on TV and movies I’ve never met any that remotely resembled them in real life. As many children in their formative years, I got shaped into my environment; a rough and tumble arena filled with beautiful black girls who had the teeth and tongue …

Ralph on Relationships: The Mutual Friends With an Enemy

THINGS DON'T SEEM RIGHT.

THINGS DON'T SEEM RIGHT.

This is dedicated to one Mr. Buckley, European History sophomore teacher extraordinaire: an extraordinary man who unbeknownst to me helped me subconsciously cultivates my lust and love for all things history.

Long before he inspired me though, I was a wise fool, just going through the motions, waiting for basketball practice.  He then presented me, along with the rest of my cohorts in our 10th grade European History (when he wasn’t throwing garbage cans to a snoozing Jamel Cooke) with a proverb that was attached …

RALPH ON RELATIONSHIPS: BEATING THE ODDS IN AGE.

YOUNG ADULTS.

YOUNG ADULTS.

IS AGE REALLY JUST A NUMBER?

It’s true: age is but a number, yet there are so many more facets that get tacked onto that integer.  There’s upbringing, environment, experience, perception, maturity just to name a few that support the story as a whole. Consider the stories of the younger, a position I’ve known in my former life all to well.  I can think of an instance of this young lady by the age of 26, and I at the tender number of 21, courting her attention …

RALPH ON RELATIONSHIPS: YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR JOB.

AUSTRALIA BOUND IN 2 WEEKS.

AUSTRALIA BOUND IN 2 WEEKS.

Here’s a shocker.  SERENA DOESN’T LOVE TENNIS. Don’t believe me? Click here.  Her father Richard and her sister Venus, wouldn’t be proud.  For someone that has 27 grand slams to her name, who put blood, sweat, and way over 10,000 hours to the game of tennis, this is quite a revelation. But this isn’t really hard to believe.

Take for instance, my book review on Andre Agassi, and his autobiography, Open, that I read late last year, where that revelation was revealed initially …

RALPH ON RELATIONSHIPS: PREDICTIONS AND SUCH LEAD TO RUIN.

KERMIT ON MY HEAD. JUDGE ME.

KERMIT ON MY HEAD. JUDGE ME.

Recently, I’ve observed some of my friends, those that are single and are growing bored of mingling, going for theirs. With gusto, they’re pulling out all the stops for the ones they want to love – the girl or guy of their proverbial dreams. Those are what their dreams are what their future is made of.  We’ve all seen it before – the formative stages occur and they get to know each other.  Sometimes, their intensity level isn’t evenly matched. Now what?  The one …

RALPH ON RELATIONSHIPS – CONFIDENCE.

REMEMBER: YOU ARE NUMBER 1.

REMEMBER: YOU ARE NUMBER 1.

In relationships, especially when it comes to romantic ones, CONFIDENCE is everything.  If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you successfully pitch yourself to be with someone? Think of yourself as a hot commodity – one of internal and external value.  What do you bring to the table?  Only you can decide.

I can’t stress this enough.  There is no reversal to this rule.  Lacking confident is one of the most unattractive traits anyone could have that’s always a deal breaker in starting …

Triage Thursday – When Things Left Unsaid Goes Wrong.

SHAKE MY HAND.

SHAKE MY HAND.

I haven’t heard from her or of her in months. I really didn’t think twice of the passage of time between the last time we spoke and the present day. We’ve been through bouts like this – get close for a few weeks, then drop off for a few months. Repeat. Spin. Cycle. Dry. Repeat. Besides I’ve had my own laundry to tend to.

But nonetheless, I saw someone that knew her, and I knew they’d see her soon. I told him to pass the message. Simply, …
